Weekend round-up: Lazio stun Juventus as Maresca's City make it seven from seven
Man City won their seventh league game in seven to stay three points clear of Arsenal, Luis Díaz scored a hat-trick in Bayern's 6-1 rout of Leipzig, and Lazio's 3-0 win in Turin took them level with Inter at the top of Serie A.

The talking points
Maresca's City make it seven from seven
Manchester City have not dropped a point all season, and on Saturday they did it the hard way. Phil Foden put them ahead against Ipswich, Daizen Maeda equalised almost straight away, and it took two goals from Erling Haaland to settle it. VAR ruled out what would have been his hat-trick for offside, then gave Ipswich a late penalty that Zian Flemming scored, so the last few minutes were far more nervous than they needed to be.
The record still stands. Enzo Maresca is the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games in charge of a club, and he was quick to credit his No 9: "he's a leader, a captain."
Arsenal stayed three points behind, but only just. They had no shot on target in the first half at the City Ground, and Noni Madueke, sent on at half-time for Eberechi Eze, won it with 10 minutes left when his shot deflected off Jair Cunha. It was their only effort on target all afternoon. "You have to be clinical," Mikel Arteta said. Forest have not scored at home in the league this season and are in the bottom three.
Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 at Brentford, though the turning point was a red card. Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off for a headbutt on Jeremy Jacquet in first-half stoppage time, moments after Keane Lewis-Potter had put Brentford ahead. Victor Munoz levelled and Alexander Isak, back from a thigh problem, scored the winner. It was Brentford's first defeat of the season, but Andoni Iraola left with more injuries: Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong will be out for some time.
Bayern answer their critics, and Leipzig are in trouble
After two league draws, Bayern took Leipzig apart 6-1 and went back to the top. Luis Díaz scored three and made another, Harry Kane marked his 100th Bundesliga game with a goal, and Michael Olise and Aleksandar Pavlović also scored. Díaz's second, two minutes after half-time, made it 4-0 and finished the contest.
For Martín Demichelis it was humiliating. "We have to apologise to our fans," the Leipzig coach said. "You can lose in Munich, but not like this." Leipzig are seventh, behind newly promoted Elversberg, and they go to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Bayern lead only on goal difference. Dortmund drew 0-0 at Union, a game remembered for referee Daniel Schlager showing Ethan Nwaneri a red card in the first minute by mistake and changing it to a yellow. They are still unbeaten.
Lazio win in Turin and join Inter at the top
The result of the weekend in Italy came on Sunday night. Gennaro Gattuso's Lazio won 3-0 at Juventus, with goals from Provstgaard, Isaksen and Dele-Bashiru. Juve had a goal from Kolo Muani ruled out for offside and created as much as their visitors, but Lazio scored first from a set piece eight minutes before half-time and Juve never found a way back. Nuno Tavares, who set up the second and hit the bar, was a constant threat.
Luciano Spalletti, suspended and watching from the stands, was blunt afterwards, saying his side had been slow in their legs and in their heads. Juventus are eighth, eight points off the top.
Lazio are level on 19 points with Inter, who came from behind to win 3-1 at Bologna. Cristian Chivu, who had lost his voice and sent Aleksandar Kolarov to speak for him, won it with his changes: Carlos Augusto scored within a minute of coming on, then set up another substitute, Bonny. Roma beat Genoa 2-0 to stay two points behind, and Rúben Amorim's Milan beat Atalanta 3-2 to stay unbeaten after seven games, though they let a three-goal lead shrink to one.
Napoli are going the other way. They had 29 shots at Venezia, had a penalty from the substitute Kevin De Bruyne saved by Filip Stanković, and lost 1-0 to a side who had not won all season. Massimiliano Allegri's message was that fear does nobody any good.
Barcelona keep winning, and Madrid keep up
Barcelona have won all nine of their LaLiga games, and the ninth was the most entertaining. They beat Betis 5-2 in Seville, with Lamine Yamal scoring the first and Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Eric García and Dani Olmo the rest. The game turned when Facundo Bernal was sent off for a headbutt on Yamal, and Betis had already had a Lo Celso equaliser ruled out for handball in the build-up.
Hansi Flick was pleased but not carried away: "We have to win titles." It cost him for Tuesday's trip to PSG: Eric García, who went off injured, and Koundé will both miss it.
Real Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 at the Bernabéu. Arda Güler opened the scoring, Kylian Mbappé scored twice, one of them a penalty, and Yan Diomandé, who set up the first, added a fine fourth from distance. Sevilla's Luis García Plaza complained that Güler should have been sent off for an elbow at 0-0; José Mourinho said nobody had convinced him of it. Madrid are third, six points behind Barcelona and one behind Atlético, who won 1-0 at Espanyol.
Carrick's United still cannot win
Manchester United led at Elland Road through Bryan Mbeumo's low finish, then conceded from a corner six minutes after half-time, Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring from close range. It finished 1-1, and United have now won one of their seven league games. They have not won in the league since August.
Michael Carrick praised his players' commitment. Maguire went further, saying they were "not as brave as we should be". After the boos at home to Spurs and a defeat in Madrid, the pressure on Carrick is growing, and they go to Como in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Player of the weekend
Luis Díaz. Bayern needed a response after two draws and he gave them one on his own: three goals, the assist for Pavlović, and the goal two minutes after half-time that ended the contest. He had been going through a goal drought. He was voted man of the match by 84 per cent of fans.
Under pressure
Pierre Sage. Crystal Palace were 3-0 down at Brighton after 10 minutes, a run that included an own goal and Diego Gomez scoring from his own half, and they lost 5-0. Palace have conceded 17 league goals, more than anyone else, and are 14th. "We started really bad," Sage said, and when he was asked if he would be given time, he answered: "I don't know." Sky Sports reports the club have no immediate plans to make a change.
