The talking points

PSG strike twice late to end Barcelona's perfect start

For 80 minutes at the Parc des Princes this looked like a game Barcelona could take something from. Désiré Doué gave PSG the lead in the 38th minute after Lamine Yamal lost the ball in his own half, but Xavi Espart, making his Champions League debut, levelled soon after the break when Fermín López sent him through. Lucas Hernández headed PSG back in front from a corner, and Yamal made it 2-2 late on.

Then the champions found another gear. Vitinha controlled the ball on his chest and hit it in from outside the box in the 81st minute, and Fabián Ruiz turned in Achraf Hakimi's low cross to settle it. Barcelona had arrived in Paris on 11 straight wins in all competitions.

Hansi Flick said his side made "too many mistakes", mostly cheap losses of the ball, and linked them to tired legs after a disrupted journey home from Seville. Luis Enrique praised his defending, though he will be counting the cost: Ousmane Dembélé went off after 20 minutes with a hamstring problem and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was also hurt. PSG host Lyon on Sunday; Barcelona have the Clásico.

Como take United apart and the pressure on Carrick grows

Manchester United were behind inside two minutes again. A week after conceding early in Madrid, they let Nico Paz find the top corner when Harry Maguire gave him too much room, and Sky Sports noted that no English side had conceded so soon in back-to-back Champions League games.

Michael Carrick changed things at half-time, bringing on Carlos Baleba and Amad Diallo, and it lasted four minutes. Paz slipped in Tasos Douvikas for the second, then caught Baleba in possession and scored the third himself before the hour. Substitute Kaiki Bruno crossed for the unmarked Jacobo Ramon to head in a fourth, and Joshua Zirkzee's stoppage-time goal changed nothing.

United were without nine players, but Como were the better side all over the pitch. "I'm really angry," Carrick said. "I didn't like what I saw tonight." Cesc Fabregas told his players they "need to keep our feet on the ground". United have three points from three games; Como have six.

Rice rescues Arsenal in Munich but Saka's injury hurts

Arsenal lost Bukayo Saka after nine minutes with a quad injury, and his replacement gave them the lead. Eberechi Eze ran on to Martin Odegaard's ball over the top from inside his own half and finished low with his left foot, and a VAR check found him onside.

Bayern, without the suspended Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich, who was absent after a death in his family, came back hard. Harry Kane's pass sent Alphonso Davies clear to equalise ten minutes later, and just after the hour Kane scored a penalty after his own shot struck Jurrien Timber's hand.

Arsenal's answer came with eight minutes left. Viktor Gyokeres laid the ball off and Declan Rice drove it low into the far corner. Their own site counts the draw as a 15th league phase match without defeat, going back to the start of last season. "We'll take the draw," Mikel Arteta said, though of Saka he admitted: "It doesn't look good at all."

Ngumoha inspires Liverpool from two down

Andoni Iraola's side were 2-0 down at Anfield before the half-hour. Georges Mikautadze scored after four minutes when Virgil van Dijk's header back to Alisson fell short, and Sergi Cardona finished a Villarreal counter-attack.

Liverpool's way back started with set pieces and Rio Ngumoha. Alexis Mac Allister headed in Kostas Tsimikas' corner, and Ronald Araújo nodded in Ngumoha's cross at the back post in first-half stoppage time. Iraola sent on Florian Wirtz for Araújo at half-time, and Mac Allister and Wirtz scored three minutes apart after the break, the first set up by Ngumoha skipping past two challenges.

Tani Oluwaseyi's late volley made the last few minutes uncomfortable. "It definitely hasn't been a boring game," Iraola said. He was careful with the 18-year-old: "He's still 18, he's not the full package." Liverpool have won three from three, but they have conceded three in each of their last two European games.

Madrid stay perfect with the Clásico next

Real Madrid have nine points from nine after a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig at the Bernabéu, their fourth win in a row in all competitions. Bernardo Silva scored his first goal for the club late in the first half, prodding in after Arda Güler's shot was saved, and Güler made it two in the 52nd minute after Kylian Mbappé headed Jude Bellingham's cross back across goal.

Mbappé curled in a third from Yan Diomande's pass. Tidiam Gomis pulled one back when Dean Huijsen switched off, and Diomande, on as a substitute, volleyed in Brahim Díaz's cross for his third goal in four games. Vinícius Júnior started and was replaced after 70 minutes; he is banned for La Liga matches and so misses Sunday's trip to Barcelona.

Elsewhere in the week

Inter have their first points. They went down to ten men when Alessandro Bastoni was sent off for a second yellow card in the 68th minute, and nine minutes later Carlos Augusto ran on to Henrikh Mkhitaryan's pass to beat Shakhtar 1-0. Josep Martínez made two late saves to keep it. Phil Foden scored a hat-trick in Man City's 5-1 win over AEK Athens with Erling Haaland rested, and Aston Villa made it three wins from three against Viking. Max Allegri has his first Champions League win as Napoli coach after a 4-3 over Bodø/Glimt with two goals from Scott McTominay. The shock came in Lisbon, where LASK came from behind to beat Sporting 3-2 for their first win in the competition.

Player of the week

Nico Paz of Como. Two goals and the pass for the other in a 4-1 win over Manchester United, opening the scoring after two minutes and setting the pace for a side playing only its third Champions League game.

Under pressure

Michael Carrick. United are winless in seven games in all competitions, have three points from three in Europe and have conceded inside the opening two minutes in both away games. Carrick said he was angry and apologised to the supporters. Bournemouth visit Old Trafford on Sunday.

Stuttgart and Arsenal are next on seven points, and Barcelona hold the last of the top eight places on six, ahead of Como on goals scored. Bayern are 14th with five points after two draws. Porto, Lille and Slovan Bratislava are the clubs still without a point.

The AI's corner

Two bullseyes this week: Sabah 1-2 Dortmund and Aston Villa 3-1 Viking. The AI called the right result in 10 of 18 games, those two included, and missed the other eight. Its best calls apart from the bullseyes were Real Madrid to beat Leipzig (it said 3-1) and Roma over Slovan Bratislava (3-0, one goal short). Its worst miss was Sporting, which it had beating LASK 3-0 before they lost 3-2 at home. It also had PSG and Barcelona drawing 2-2. Every prediction is at predisportshq.com/predictions.
